Witchdoctors and Accessories
The Original Witchdoctor® Teaser was Peter Pakula’s first invention, developed in his early teens in the late 1960’s before he became obsessed with lure development. These teasers were initially designed for use while trolling live and dead baits. After all these years, the Pakula Witchdoctor is now accepted as the best fish exciter for all trolling applications. At all trolling speeds, the Witchdoctor stays deep below the prop wash, vibrating in what seems a slow wobble, sending out irresistible vibrations, flashing shafts of fluorescent blue and purple light in all directions. Unlike any other teaser, it never comes to the surface to interfere with or tangle trolling lines.
Positioning the Pakula Witchdoctor
Run the Pakula Witchdoctor in front of your closest lure or bait, running it on the opposite side of the boat. This exciter is extremely effective and will attract fish directly to it. It is critical that a bait or lure be placed in close proximity to this teaser, around 15 feet / 4.5 metres apart. Over the past few years, there have been many tournament winning boats that troll at least one Pakula Witchdoctor®, and many use two!
Caring for your PAKULA WITCHDOCTOR
The environment that a Witchdoctor is subjected to is extremely harsh. After each use of the Pakula Witchdoctor, you should wash it in fresh water with detergent, rinse, and then, most importantly, allow it to dry thoroughly before storing it, preferably in the shade.
WITCHDOCTOR Alternative Teaser Systems
There are many effective surface teasers, such as daisy chains, spreader bars, and lures. The Witchdoctor and surface teasers can work very well together. If single surface teasers such as daisy chains are used with the Witchdoctor, they should both be run on the same side of the boat. By running both teasers from the same side of the boat, they can be pulled in together when the action starts!
You can also improve the effectiveness by adding flash strips to the teaser cord.
The cord used to tow the Witchdoctor should be weaker than the cleat or rail you tow it from. There are many stories of cleats and even a game chair being ripped out of boats when monster fish grab the Witchdoctor.
