PAKULA PAUA JET EXTRA SMALL LURES

Pakula Tackle was the first to offer the first truly comprehensive range of Ultra Light Tackle game fishing lures with lures that are now legends such as the Mosquito, Cockroach, Zipper, Phantom, Micro Sprocket etc.

Though you can run these on tackle as light as 4kg, they are by no means small fish lures, in fact Marlin over 150kg are not uncommon on these lures.

It is important to note that as with all Pakula Lures the head shapes are continuously being modified. Indeed the only thing that has remained the same is their names and colours. The older lures can only be a reference to the increased performance of these evolving head shapes especially with this new range of Softease Fang Lures.

Even when fishing heavy tackle it is worthwhile trolling a small lure in amongst the larger sizes, especially in the shot gun position. As you can see this range of lures gives you a selection of lures that will adequately meet your trolling requirements. Choose from our huge range of colour combinations and set up a truly special set of Extra Small Pakula lures, but beware big fish do like them, though they're small you may wish to run them on medium or even heavy tackle. That way you'll get to keep them a little longer! 

The range of Small Pakula Lures include the totally updated version of the mighty little Cockroach, and further updates to this range known as the Softease Fang range introduced in 3rd Quarter 2010, one of the most productive lures to ever troll the seven seas. As with all our lures we have modified all the lures in this size to give you a comprehensive range of small lures for light tackle game fishing on tackle as light as 6kg. Do not underestimate their capabilities, they are just as useful trolling the wide canyons on heavy tackle as part of a spread of larger lures as they are on the light tackle grounds for Sailfish and smaller Marlin.

Apart from their inherent action and ease of use, these lures are the size of most small schooling bait fish and therefore more likely to match the hatch. To improve your odds each lure has it's own specific action to trigger feeding responses. Match to all this the choice of Pakula skirt colours and the new SOFTease material and all you have to do is find the fish!

This is a comprehensive range of lures. If you are on a budget, you can't afford not to select a pattern of lures from this range. One of each in the colours listed in our specification or pattern sheet will allow you to fish competitively anywhere from Tasmania to St Thomas for any game fish normally caught on trolling lures, especially Tuna and all species of Billfish. There is no other set of lures that are as versatile as the range of small sized Pakula Lures!

The Mini Sprocket is designed as a long rigger lure with a tight swimming action. The results on this lure have mirrored its larger brother the Lumo Sprocket which is our best tournament performer. Just make sure a Lumo stays on the long rigger.

This little lure is lethal on species such as Striped Marlin and Sailfish, particularly in the colours such as Evil and Blue Angel, Illusion and Violeta. It's a great light tackle lure which can be easily trolled on light line classes.

The Phantom is an incredibly effective game fishing Lure. Don't judge it by it's diminutive size. It is a big fish lure that has won many Sailfish, Black Marlin and BIG Blue Marlin Tournaments. It is primarily a long corner, long rigger and is a legend lure on the shot. Its straight, tight swimming action will continue in any conditions at any speed.

Even when the fishing has shut down the Phantom still performs its spell catching lots of fish in waters where no other lures or even live baits are working. It has earned it's status primarily in the colours Evil Angel and Pink Angel, but all the Pakula colours have done very well on the Phantom.

The "Mighty" Cockroach works well in all trolling positions, though it is primarily a ‘short position'. The Cockroach has an aggressive action that hugs the water at all trolling speeds and will work fine in all weather conditions. This lure has gained an enormous reputation, quite simply because it works so well!

Medium Pakula Lures are the ambassadors of our range, being the first to become established in new areas. It was the Medium Sprocket that Don of Kona Fishing Tackle, Hawaii, used first and had enough success to warrant stocking Pakula Lures in his shop.

It is our recommendation that if you are fishing somewhere new, you should be using this selection of lures. They are big enough to tempt the monsters of the sea small enough to be engulfed by the smaller ones as well.

As the lures increase in size they become more specific in regards to their placement in the lure pattern. It is advisable to troll these and larger lures where they have been designed to run.

The Medium Sprocket, is a long rigger lure with a tight swimming action that will work in all conditions at any trolling speed. This family of lures has been responsible for a great many of the successes of Pakula lures in fact as Peter Pakula says: "always run one of the Sprocket family in Lumo colours, and never move it!". The Small Sprocket is not just a light tackle lure and will hold it's own trolled in the Shotgun position in a heavy tackle spread, especially in the Angel colours.

The Guru is a long corner, long rigger and shot gun special. Its straight, tight swimming action will continue in any sea conditions at most trolling speeds, including the slower fuel saving speeds of 6 to 6.5 knots.. Because of the incredible success of it's smaller brother the Phantom, The Guru has been redesigned to behave in the same manner and should give you the same results in light tackle fishing and better results using medium and heavy tackle. The best colours in the Guru are greens, blues, browns and blacks.

The Mouse is a short rigger lure that has no equal in this size. The most productive colours are Violeta, Frigate and Fuzz. The action is aggressive and will hug the water at all trolling speeds and will work fine in all weather conditions. If your after fish that eat other fish they'll love the Mouse!

These modified Pakula Lures would need their own catalog to give you all the information on the great success that their predecessors have achieved. Even though there was nothing wrong with these lures before the upgrade and it was certainly a challenge to better them, particularly the flagship of our range the Lumo Sprocket.

These changes have made all the lures more aggressive and even more 'pattern compatible'. When these lures are run in their specified positions you'll find them very easy to run together, regardless of trolling speed or sea conditions. Even more than position specific, our statistics show that each lure is also best in a limited range of colours in specific positions.

Once you try this set of tournament lures on medium or heavy tackle it is unlikely you will ever go back to using any other lures. These are the lures that have won over half the major trophies and prizes on Pakula Lures.

In October 2013 we made a breakthrough in our production process that has enabled us to hand pour large Softease with very large 3/8th inch jets.

The first of these lures to go into production is the Warlord, which was first introduced in the late 1980's but was taken out of production because of production difficulties even through the Warlord was a very productive lure.

The range of Extra Large Paua Hothead lures will continue to expand in the future.

The Pakula Monster Jet lures range from 16" to over 18" inches weighing over 385grams. These seem like big lures to most anglers, but to predators like Marlin and Tuna that can and do eat prey that is 20% of their own body weight these are just small easy to eat meals.

Many use lures this size as teasers, but they are just as much a lure that should be rigged with hooks as any other. Certainly they use big hooks and we will have size 55 Dojo hooks available for these lures and you'll need a drag setting of 12kg (25lbs) and over to set these hooks effectively!
